Centering Prayer

“Centering Prayer consists in learning to withdraw attention from our thoughts - those incessant creations of our busy minds - in order to rest in a gentle, open, attentiveness to divine reality itself.”

- Cynthia Bourgeault

Offered virtually via Zoom

Centering Prayer is a method of silent, contemplative prayer. Start your day by praying with others—20 minutes of silent centering prayer, followed by 40 minutes of reading and discussion on prayer or spirituality.

“We find that belonging to a supportive community of other ‘Centering Pray-ers’ encourages us in our daily attempts to being faithful to prayer and/or meditation,” remarks a participant.

Centering Prayer is being conducted virtually.  A link will be emailed to you after your register.  You must register by 12:00noon on the Wednesday before the Centering Prayer session.  Please contact Pat Shutts if you have questions.

Every Thursday (except on November 25, December 23, and December 30, 2021)
7:00 – 8:00am
Freewill offering accepted.

Peter Johnson is a retired teacher, school administrator, and professional coach. With experience in contemplative practices ranging from Sufi spirituality to Zen meditation to Centering Prayer, Peter has taught meditation to incarcerated men in Wisconsin prisons, worked with traumatized inner city youth, and companioned hospice patients.
