Institute for Spiritual Guidance

Siena Retreat Center’s Institute for Spiritual Guidance (ISG) was developed in response to the need for continuing education and growth of spiritual guides.  The Institute offers workshops that create opportunities for guides to learn and further integrate the art and skill of companioning another person.

Now in its sixth year, the Institute is for both seasoned spiritual guides and those who have more recently completed training.  Supervision training is periodically offered through the Institute for Spiritual Guidance.  The following workshops are scheduled for 2021.  To register, visit the appropriate page in the Retreat Programs section.

How to Plan Retreats and Days of Reflection for Others

Facilitated by Miriam Brown, OP

This retreat for spiritual guides will be both reflective and practical. It is meant for those who have been invited to or would like to offer reflection times for others (a morning, day, overnight, weekend).

In our time together, we will move through these planning steps individually    and in teams:

· reflect on participants and the purposes for their time away
· draw deep from your personal journeys, meanings, and spirit
· go wide to interweave thematic resources
· shape the time to develop a sense of prayerful flow.

You may come with themes and resources you have or start from scratch.   We will enrich and help each other in this time together.

Thursday, August 12, to Friday, August 13, 2021
The retreat starts at 7:00pm on Thursday evening and concludes at 5:00pm on Friday.
Cost of $175 includes $55 non-refundable deposit, overnight accommodations, and meals.

Supervisor Training for Spiritual Companioning in the Paradigm of the Universe Story

A one year program beginning August of 2021 and ending August of 2022

Being a supervisor for spiritual guides is a special, needed ministry. With the lens of the universe story, we will explore how creation’s gifts of interiority, diversity, and communion  are intricately woven within every story shared.

How do supervisors help spiritual guides grow in their awareness of the ever evolving life-graces of those they guide?

Program participants will develop necessary skills, become more aware of their own gifts, and work on their growing edges as trained supervisors. Through input, reflection, exercises, and supervised practicum they will grow in spiritual insight and the art and skill of supervision.

Participants must have three years’ experience as a spiritual guide, commit to the full year of training, complete Reflection Sheet with application, and apply before July 30, 2021.

Program Elements:
· Opening Gathering: Friday, August 13, to Sunday, August 15, 2021; held at Siena Retreat Center
· Practicum Experience: six sessions to be scheduled with individual supervisor during interim months
· Closing Gathering: Friday, August 12, to Sunday, August 14, 2022; held Siena Retreat Center
