Singing in the Hildegarden: A Weekend for Women

“We cannot live in a world that is not our own, in a world that is interpreted for us by others. An interpreted world is not a home. Part of the terror is to take back our own listening, to use our own voice, to see our own light.”

- Hildegard of Bingen

When we as women sing together, we are invited to enter a sacred river of ancient womansong.  It is a river of kindness and authenticity, strength, acceptance, compassion, wisdom, embodiment, beauty, gratitude, harmony, possibility, and love.  Singing together in this holy ancient way is about connecting in the timeless place of heart and spirit.  With St. Hildegard as our companion and guide, we will sing for healing and inspiration and to enrich our lives.

Throughout the retreat, we will sing many beautiful songs of heart, including selections from Hildegardʼs music from the 1100s.  We will also participate in creative practices designed to tap into higher wisdom and enrich our inner lives.  We will connect to Mother Earth and allow the healing waters of Lake Michigan to increase our wonder.  We will laugh, dance, hug, play, cry, and grow.

Some of the women on this retreat have been singing and deepening together in yearly retreat for as many as twelve years; others may be coming for the first time.  All are welcome in this warm, inviting gathering space and will be greeted with open arms and hearts.

The retreat begins at 7:00pm on Thursday and concludes with the noon meal on Sunday.
