Sacred Sites Day Pilgrimages Islamic Society of Milwaukee and St. Mary and St. Antonius Coptic Orthodox Church

Since ancient times, pilgrimage has been a part of almost all world religious traditions.

Pilgrims travel for a purpose—to seek wisdom, deeper understanding, clarity in making a decision, or devotion to the Divine or a holy person. We invite you to be a pilgrim for a day!

The morning will include a tour of the Islamic Society of Milwaukee. Islam is an Abrahamic monotheistic religion and the world's second-largest religion, whose followers are known as Muslims. The Islamic Society of Milwaukee purchased a former school in 1982 and developed it into  today’s worship hall   and elementary school.

In the afternoon we will visit St. Mary  and St. Antonius Coptic Orthodox Church in  Oak Creek, built in 2001 in traditional Egyptian form. The Coptic Orthodox Church of Alexandria  is the indigenous Christian Church of Egypt.

Tours of both sacred sites will include an explanation of the history of the faith tradition and the followers’ beliefs, worship practices, and community engagement.
