Reveling in the Divine: Mardi Gras Evening of Reflection

“How do we enter this Lenten period of fasting and dying properly? How do we begin? By the opposite of dying!”

- Gertrude Mueller Nelson

This program has been cancelled.

Mardi Gras, or “Fat Tuesday” is celebrated by many cultures around the world on the day (or in some places, a week or more!) before Ash Wednesday and the beginning of the Christian penitential  season of Lent.   In a sense, Mardi  Gras’ relaxed rules, feasting  and playing are meant to stand in contrast to the restraint and disciplines of Lent giving us permission to revel in the gifts of creation and God’s abundance.

This evening of reflection will include some fun and traditional Mardi Gras treats but will also offer you time to think about your goals for Lent around the Benedictine tradition of bona opera or “good works.”

Tuesday, February 25, 2020
Cost of $15 includes program and Mardi Gras refreshments.
