EnCompassing Culture: Reclaiming Indigenous Space through StoryMap

"Invisible." That's how many Native people describe their presence in mainstream communities. This presentation explores a unique learning approach to raising the visibility of Native people by using place in knowledge-keeping.

Professor Patty Loew (Ojibwe) will share how she and her students created a virtual tour of Indigenous people, places, and historical events on the Northwestern University campus, a StoryMap. This is a project that combines research, teaching, and outreach in a way that connects the past to present and reminds visitors that this was and remains Indigenous land.
