Coming Full Circle: A Day of Meditation & Mandala-making

“All true art must help the soul to realize its inner self... True art must be evidence of the happiness, contentment and purity of its authors. ”

- Gandhi

“For millennia, mandala art has been used throughout the world for self-expression, spiritual transformation, and personal growth,” writes Bailey Cunningham in her book Mandala:  Journey to the Center.  “Mandala,” she continues, “is the ancient Sanskrit word for ‘circle’ and is seen by Tibetans as an ideal diagram of the cosmos, an object of meditation that can lead one to enlightenment.  It is used by Native Americans in healing rituals.  In Christian cathedrals and gardens the labyrinth is a mandalic pattern used as a tool for centering and contemplation.”

Come, treat yourself to a day of quiet, meditation, walking the labyrinth, and coming back to your center with simple, expressive art making.  Pat will lead the group through meditation and various methods to make mandalas which can be used as your everyday spiritual practice.

Author and mythologist Joseph Campbell says, “Making a mandala is a discipline for pulling all the scattered aspects of your life together, finding a center.”
