Christian Spirituality and Contemplative Yoga for Women

Christian mystics share the desire to “yoke” themselves to God, to move toward union with God. Likewise, the root meaning of the word yoga is “to yoke,” to integrate oneself spiritually.

By “yoking” Christian spirituality and gentle, modern yoga postures, this retreat day invites participants to engage in conversation and spiritual practices to help integrate one’s mind, body, and spirit and deepen one’s relationship with God.

This day explores the intersection of women’s experiences and holistic spiritual practices during this time of social change.

The structure of the day includes a short morning contemplative practice, a morning presentation and group discussion, time for silent reflection, and an afternoon contemplative yoga session. While the primary focus will be on Christian spirituality, women of any tradition are welcome!

Please wear comfortable clothes and bring a yoga mat (or a beach towel). Contemplative yoga can also be done in a chair. Participants may want to bring a journal for individual reflection.
