Adverse Childhood Experiences and Trauma Informed Care Today (Situations of Substance)

The Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) study has been empirically validated more than 100 different times, making the core theme of the study abundantly clear - exposing kids to overwhelming, unsupported adversity can lead to significant physical, social and behavioral health outcomes.  These outcomes create challenges across all spheres of life and are described as a national priority by many leading experts.

This presentation will outline the ACE study and its key findings, and will introduce attendees to the core tenants of Trauma Informed Care, which is both one of the solutions to addressing adversity and a roadmap that can give communities ideas on how to promote resilience and healing.

This series focuses on on-going societal “situations”—complex and troubling conditions we want to change.  Situations are not as simple as right and wrong; they are cultural and systemic, requiring of us multi-dimensional solutions of involvement and creativity as responsible citizens and people of faith.

The series is coordinated by Jim Gill.  Please pre-register so that we can provide adequate seating.
