Christian Spirituality and Contemplative Yoga for Women

“Listen to yourself and in that quietude you might hear the voice of God.”

- Maya Angelou

While many Christians today practice yoga  as a form of relaxation or fitness, yoga can be a vehicle for deepening our spiritual lives as well.

Both of these days of reflection focus on a theme in women’s spirituality along with embodied prayer.  The day includes  a morning breathing meditation, a morning talk and group discussion, time for silent reflection, and afternoon Contemplative Yoga (which can also  be done in a chair).

Contemplative Yoga brings together the richness of the Christian contemplative tradition with modern yoga postures to create a gentle, embodied prayer experience that can deepen one's relationship with God in mind, body, and spirit.  While the primary focus will be on Christian spirituality, all are welcome to attend!

Please wear comfy clothes and bring a yoga mat (or a beach towel; we have You may also want to bring a journal for the individual reflection time.

Saturday, March 10th, focus:“Positive Resistance”

Saturday, June 2nd, focus: "True Beauty"
This day will draw from writings of contemporary women theologians as we explore the intersection of the body, beauty, and spirituality, focusing on what it means to embrace being created in the image of God in our daily lives.
