Outdoor labyrinth

Outdoor Labyrinth

" We are not human beings on a spiritual path. We are spiritual beings on a human path. "
-- Pierre Teilhard de Chardin

The labyrinth is an archetype, a divine imprint, found in religious traditions in various forms around the world.  By walking the labyrinth we are discovering a long forgotten mystical tradition.

A Cretan-style, 7-circuit labyrinth, overlooking Lake Michigan, graces our outdoor environment.  The Cretan labyrinth has been found on the isle of Crete, and was walked as a symbol of the spiritual journey as far back as 2600 BC.

Siena Retreat Center also has an indoor 11-circuit, Chartres labyrinth.  The Chartres design originated in Roman times and was also built into the marble floor of the Chartres Cathedral in France in the 1200's AD.

For more information on walking this ancient meditation tool, please contact Sister Kathleen Bohn, OP, at (262) 898-2581.  S. Kathleen Bohn has take the labyrinth facilitator training from Lauren Artress.

Siena Retreat Center staff will determine which meeting room will be assigned to your group.

Please contact Sr. Dolores for additional information on rooms to meet your needs.

bedroom

Bedroom Floors

Our 67 bedrooms each have a private bathroom (with a shower) and are accessible by elevator.  Linens are provided.  A small number of bedrooms are ADA accessible.  Each bedroom has adjustable temperature settings.

Each floor has a washer and dryer, iron and ironing board, and a sitting room with a "book nook."

We ask that silence be kept on the bedroom floors to ensure a contemplative environment.
