Lent: The Bonding of Recognition

“I bow in awe at the beautiful, ineffable Mystery you carry within. The God within me Recognizes the God in you.”

- Mary Fisher, OP

When Spirit Meets Spirit

As we explore the Gospel stories of encounters with Jesus, we may notice what Cynthia Bourgeault calls the “recognition experience” in the individuals drawn to him.  It is as though a vibration of inner knowing leaps between them. “Namaste!”  Spirit meets spirit in the mutuality of divine-human communion.

This is the “the fullness of life” that Jesus desires us to recognize.  We will explore this movement of “knowing” first through the Gospel stories and then in our own unitive experiences— faith that reveals  to us the divine life and love within.

Saturday, March 3, 2018

Optional overnight continuation:

Recognition and the Enneagram

Explore the mystery of spiritual “recognition” and “knowing” as it may relate to the mystical understanding of the Enneagram (nine types of personality that reflect nine aspects of the Divine).   It will help if you have some acquaintance with the enneagram, but we will include introductory material.
